
Invited by the Director General of Taxation, an AmCham delegation led by Vice President Guy Honoré Tchente presented the Chamber's recommendations for the upcoming 2027 Finance Law.
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, AmCham Cameroon was invited by the Director General of Taxation, Mr. Meyong Abath Roger Athanase, to an important working session to present and discuss the Chamber's contributions to the upcoming 2027 Finance Law.
The AmCham delegation was led by its Vice President, Mr. Guy Honoré Tchente, and brought together representatives of AmCham member companies, including Deloitte, MTN Cameroon, Ecobank Cameroon, Dee Lite, Colgate-Palmolive Cameroon and Citibank.
The discussions focused on key priorities aimed at strengthening Cameroon's business and investment environment, including:
- Improving tax clarity and predictability for businesses
- Supporting digital transformation and adapting taxation to evolving digital business models
- Strengthening financial inclusion, particularly through appropriate treatment of microfinance and digital financial services
- Enhancing VAT fairness and neutrality across formal and informal sectors
- Improving tax administration and digital services to facilitate compliance and reduce administrative burdens
- Promoting investment and competitiveness through targeted tax incentives, including green investments and support for startups
- Encouraging industrial development and import substitution through appropriate fiscal incentives


During the session, Mr. Guy Honoré Tchente presented AmCham's recommendations, followed by constructive exchanges with the Director General of Taxation and his team, who provided their perspectives and feedback on the various proposals.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the importance of continued public-private dialogue and collaboration in shaping a tax framework that supports investment, economic growth and a competitive business environment.
